Following the death of her husband, Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, in December 2022 after he suffered two strokes, there has been much speculation about who Babes Wodumo might be dating. However, the Gqom singer and dancer clarified to ZiMoja that she is not ready for a serious relationship yet.
Recently, Babes Wodumo went live on Instagram wearing lace underwear and a swimsuit top, with a man by her side. Their apparent closeness led fans to speculate about a possible romance. Babes Wodumo set the record straight with ZiMoja, explaining that the man is just a friend. “People are jumping to conclusions. I’m not dating him; we’re friends and he is gay,” she said. She added that she’s not in a place to start dating yet. “I was married to Mampintsha; he was my husband. I can’t just date for the sake of dating. There are things I need to discuss with my family first,” she explained.
Almost two years have passed since Mampintsha’s death, and rumors surfaced that Babes Wodumo was seeing former Amaroto member Sabelo Zuma. A friend revealed that the relationship ended quickly. “It didn’t last; he was seeing multiple women, which was never going to work. Babes is a loyal person,” the friend told ZiMoja. Babes Wodumo herself denied the dating rumors, calling Zuma “like a brother” and noting, “People will always have something to say about me; I’m used to it. I’m a star.”
Currently, Babes Wodumo is focusing on her music career. “I’ve completed my project, and it’s amazing. I don’t have time for romance right now. I’m busy with my music and have some bookings lined up. So, umjolo (dating) can wait a bit,” she said.
