Johannesburg – Podcaster MacGyver “MacG” Mukwevho is set to face a parliamentary summons following public outrage over disparaging remarks made about television personality Minnie Dlamini on his popular show, Podcast and Chill.

Deputy Minister for Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities, Mmapaseka Steve Letsike, confirmed that MacG will be called to appear before Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities to account for his comments, which have been widely condemned.

Letsike labelled the remarks as “repugnant,” describing them as a form of online gender-based violence. “We must be resolute in challenging platforms that normalize the degradation of women under the guise of entertainment,” she said.

MacG’s failure to comply with the summons could lead to legal consequences, including a fine or a sentence of up to 12 months’ imprisonment. In addition, legal experts are reportedly exploring the possibility of pursuing a crimen injuria charge against the podcaster.

The incident has reignited calls for greater accountability among public figures and content creators, especially regarding the treatment of women in media and digital spaces.
