MUSINA : Eight people were killed and sixteen escaped with serious injuries in two separate accidents on the N1 South outside Musina in Vhembe District last night.
In the first accident, It is alleged that the driver of an overloaded Nissan Navara Loading Van lost control of the vehicle and overturned.
The driver and five passengers were confirmed dead on the scene and fourteen other passengers were taken to the Musina Hospital with serious injuries.
In another accident, two people were killed in a head-on collision on the same stretch of the road. It is reported that a Nissan loading van collided head-on with an Audi Sedan and both drivers were killed on impact.
Reckless driving has been cited as the possible cause of both accidents.
