According to reports, the 27-year-old female victim was at her boyfriend’s residence in Mariveni village around 19:00 on the aforementioned Sunday. Allegedly, the boyfriend requested money from her to purchase beer. The victim provided her boyfriend with a cash amount of R75.00, after which a dispute ensued as the boyfriend complained that the sum was insufficient.

The situation escalated when the boyfriend reportedly forcefully assaulted the victim, subjecting her to sexual assault. Following the incident, the victim was compelled to wash herself, during which she managed to escape to a neighbor’s house to seek assistance.
The victim was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention, as she had suffered injuries during the assault. The Tzaneen Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is currently investigating the case, which includes charges of rape and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
