TZANEEN – Limpopo’s entertainment industry is once again in the spotlight, this time due to a heated dispute involving music icon King Monada and popular podcast host Omee Otis. The controversy emerged following a recent episode of Otis’s podcast, featuring Limpopo music producer Ba Bethe Gashoazen.

During the podcast, Gashoazen was asked to rank himself among other prominent producers, Nelly Masterbeat and Naqua. His confident, and at times dismissive, comments about his competitors did not sit well with King Monada, a staunch advocate for unity within Limpopo’s music scene. King Monada, known for his efforts to promote harmony among local artists, took to social media to express his disapproval.

In a strongly-worded post, King Monada criticized the podcast for allegedly fostering unnecessary discord among artists. “This should be the last time,” King Monada declared. “If it happens again, I will report every social account involved.” He urged his peers to concentrate on their craft rather than engaging in conflicts, framing his comments as a call to end what he perceived as “unwarranted rivalry” within the close-knit Limpopo music community.

Omee Otis, however, was quick to counter King Monada’s claims. In a sharp rebuttal, Otis accused King Monada of practicing double standards. He reminded King Monada of previous feuds he himself had been involved in, pointing out, “When you called Bo CK Di Baboon and said Janisto deserves R20 for his voice, Limpopo was not ‘one’? When you were feuding with Maburna, we were not one? You have had disagreements with nearly every leading artist in Limpopo.”

Otis also challenged King Monada’s criticism of his podcast’s resources, suggesting that King Monada’s comments were dismissive. “Move on, Champ,” Otis said. “You’re doing well with your events and music; leave us with our backroom studio and Mobicel cameras.” This remark underscored Otis’s belief that his platform serves a crucial role in fostering open dialogue among artists.

The clash has sparked a broader discussion about the balance between collaboration and competition in Limpopo’s entertainment industry. Fans of both King Monada and Otis have taken to social media, with supporters either defending their favorite or calling for a resolution to the conflict.

This altercation is not the first between King Monada and Otis. Their rivalry reportedly dates back six years, with the recent incident reigniting past tensions. King Monada’s advice to young artists to avoid “backroom podcasts” and focus solely on their music careers seemed to strike a nerve with Otis, who views his platform as a vital space for industry discussion.

As Limpopo’s entertainment scene continues to evolve, this public dispute highlights ongoing challenges related to unity and collaboration among local artists. Whether Monada’s plea for peace will prevail or if competitive tensions will persist remains to be seen.

For now, the debate between King Monada and Omee Otis rages on, with both parties standing firm in their positions. Fans and observers alike will be watching closely to see if this conflict will ultimately contribute to greater growth and cooperation within Limpopo’s vibrant music industry.
